Brampton’s Christmas Market officially kicked off holiday season in Brampton this past weekend. Brampton’s tree lighting was held on Saturday November 17, and as the tree lit up at 6:20 p.m., so did the rest of downtown Brampton!

As part of the display – which boasts over 300,000 lights – you’ll find a few new additions, including moose at Gage Park and stars in Ken Whillans Square, closer to the tree.

The Christmas tree itself in Ken Whillans Square boasts over 15,000 lights, with a large flower on top (i.e. the Flower City logo) in place of a traditional star.

All of the trees are lit in colourful lights as usual, along with many streetlight posts. In the Square (on the Lorna Bissell Fountain), you’ll also find a fun, lit up sign that says “SPARKLE” in front of Brampton’s classic white lit up tree.

It’s a selfie-worthy spot, indeed, and it was where Santa set up shop during the Market this weekend.

As for Brampton’s other decor, there are some gorgeous hanging flower baskets from several streetlights along Main and Queen, and, of course, the gazebo at Gage Park is decked in some smaller Christmas trees, a wreath, and lots of garlands and ornaments.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

What do you think of Brampton’s 2017 light display?
