Amazon Canada’s first sort centre in the province opened its doors this week in Brampton to welcome its first 115 employees.

The 350,000 sq.-ft. facility is located at 7850 Heritage Rd. and will be home to more than 1,000 employees.

The sort centre acts as the final destination for a variety of customer items, ensuring they are sorted by destination and loaded onto trucks for delivery.

Employees were welcomed with a blue carpet ceremony, led by site leadership, featuring a drumming performance and refreshments.

The employees spent the day receiving an orientation, which included safety training, educating employees on HR resources and learning more about the facility and the leadership team.

“The Brampton sort centre is an important part of Amazon’s growth in Ontario, and plays a key role in meeting growing customer demand for new products and faster delivery times,” said John Benson, Canada Site Leader at Amazon.
