Brampton’s Godfrey Onyeka will be wearing green for at least another year as a Saskatchewan Roughrider.

Onyeka, a six-foot-two, 200-pound defensive back and native of Brampton native, signed a one-year contract extension with Saskatchewan on Wednesday (Feb. 15).

Onyeka was drafted 10th overall by Edmonton in the 2018 CFL draft before being traded to the Roughriders in February 0f 2021. He was limited to just two games in 2022 due to a shoulder injury and played nine regular-season games as well as the West final for the Roughriders in 2021.

Playing in Saskatchewan is a family affair for Onyeka. His cousin Kosi Onyeka also plays as a defensive back for the Roughriders.

The Roughriders are set to hold their season-opening game in Edmonton against the Elks on June 11.
