Video: Flashback to Zellers in Brampton’s Bramalea City Centre

Zellers is officially back on the Canadian retail scene, and while no locations are open in Brampton the Peel Archives have a way for you to walk down memory lane for some retail nostalgia.
The Hudson’s Bay Company launched the return of Zellers shops in 25 communities in Ontario and Alberta on Thursday (March 23) with locations inside select Hudson’s Bay stores.
No Zellers shops have been announced for Brampton but that hasn’t stopped the Peel Archives from getting in on the fun with a flashback video of the Bramalea City Centre Zellers from the turn of the century.
The video offers a snapshot of the Bramalea Zellers in the year 2000 after it opened for renovations and shows off some classics from the retailer – like the 1950s-inspired pastel pallet of the in-store restaurant, the Kiddurable line of children’s clothes, and the chain’s Club Z rewards program.
Nearly all Zellers locations were shuttered in 2013 with the last remaining hold-out stores closing in 2020.
The new Zellers shops sell kitchen and bath, accent furniture and home decor, organization and storage, baby and kids toys and apparel, pets, and apparel basics for men and women at “Everyday Low Prices.”

The 10,000-square-foot stores don’t have enough space for the classic Zellers in-store diner, but the Zellers Diner on Wheels will visit different store locations over the first opening days.
The Mississauga Zellers will be inside the Hudson’s Bay in Erin Mills Town Centre, 5100 Erin Mills Pkwy. The Burlington location is at Burlington Mall, 777 Guelph Line. And the St. Catharines location is in the Pen Centre Shopping Plaza, 221 Glendale Ave.
