Brampton woman’s $100,000 lottery ticket was a Christmas gift from her husband

A Brampton woman and her family are celebrating after a Christmas gift from her husband resulted in a massive lottery win.
OLG congratulated Reeta Tharmaratnam for winning the Lotto 6/49 Super Draw prize worth $100,000 in the December 24, 2022 draw.
Tharmaratnam says the ticket, purchased at Pioneer Snack Express on Main Street in Brampton, was a Christmas gift from her husband.
“It was Christmas Day and my husband was handing each of our family members a ticket – I scanned mine and saw Big Winner,” said Tharmaratnam, who said the prize money is “a little scary and exciting.”
“I started counting the zeros and then my husband and I jumped up and hugged each other.”
She plans to put some of her winnings toward her mortgage, invest in her son’s education, and travel somewhere warm.
