A woman is in hospital after being struck in a hit-and-run crash in Brampton this morning (Oct. 21).

Peel Regional Police say officers were called to the area of Dearbourne Blvd. and Dorchester Dr. in Brampton just before 7:00 a.m. on Friday for reports of a collision.

An adult female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, and police say the driver took off after the crash and did not remain on scene.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.

Police have not released a description of the suspect vehicle, and have not disclosed any details about the victim.

Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Dearbourne Blvd. have been closed between Deerfield Cres. while officers are on scene and police are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes.
