Brampton woman charged for shoplifting getaway in stolen car

Three women including one from Brampton are facing theft, stolen vehicle and drug charges after being allegedly caught red-handed shoplifting this week.

Just after 10:00 a.m. on Monday (March 21), members of the Middlesex County OPP were called to a business at 2300 Dorchester Road in Dorchester, approximately 18 kilometres west of London for reports of a theft in progress.

A Shoppers Drug Mart is reportedly located at the address, and when officers arrived on scene they witnessed three individuals attempting to leave the property in a stolen vehicle.

Police say they recovered stolen property and drugs during the investigation and have charged three women in the incident.

Michellea Pesce, 46, of Brampton has been charged with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Failure to comply with release order other than to attend court
  • Theft Under $5000 – SHOPLIFTING
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

Karen Baird, 48, of Tillsonburg has been charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Failure to comply with release order other than to attend court
  • Theft Under $5000 – SHOPLIFTING
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

Katelyn Howe, 29, of Strathroy has been charged with:

Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada, section 354(1)(a),

Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING, section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on May 13, 2022 to speak to the charges.

Pesce was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in London on March 22, while Baird and Howe have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on May 13.
