Brampton truck driver killed in rollover on Trans-Canada Highway in Saskatchewan

A 26-year-old Brampton man has died after the transport truck he was driving rolled over on the Trans-Canada Highway in southwest Saskatchewan early Monday morning.

According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, emergency crews were called to Highway 1 at about 1:45 a.m. on July 20 following reports of a semi-truck rollover approximately six kilometres east of the Village of Chaplin, a small community located about 95 km west of Moose Jaw and roughly 80 km east of Swift Current.

Swift Current Rural/Morse RCMP officers responded to the scene alongside local firefighters and EMS. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim only as a 26-year-old man from Brampton. His family has been notified, but RCMP have not publicly released his name.

The cause of the rollover has not been released.

The investigation remains ongoing, with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, who is working to determine what led to the fatal crash.

Chaplin is a village along the Trans-Canada Highway in Saskatchewan’s southwest, situated near Chaplin Lake and commonly used as a stopping point for commercial traffic travelling between Regina and Swift Current.
