Sarah Badshaw, 18, has been charged in multiple auto thefts in Ontario, including a Mississauga carjacking caught on camera.

An 18-year-old Brampton woman who allegedly stole a Porsche was granted bail on Tuesday (Sept. 24) for the second time in a week.

Sarah Badshaw was let free on $3,000 bail after being arrested Monday by Toronto Police, according to a recent report by Global News.

The article says a number of conditions were imposed by the Crown attorney on Badshaw along with the bail, including that she not be allowed to have keys to any vehicle.

Badshaw turned herself in to Peel Regional Police last Thursday following a carjacking in Mississauga caught on camera that’s been viewed over 84,000 times on police social media accounts.

The alleged carjacking happened around 2 p.m. on Sept. 6 when police say the 18-year-old came to the victim’s home in response to an Auto Trader ad selling a 2022 Porsche Cayenne.

Video of the incident shows a woman, who police say is Badshaw, approaching the home and speaking with the victim. She says she wants to take a look “at the Porsche” and is waiting “for her dad.”

But when the woman enters the vehicle, she hits the gas in reverse while the man is behind the vehicle, striking the victim, who appears to get run over by the vehicle’s tires. Police say the accused had no valid driver’s licence at the time of the theft.

The teenager was charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, failure to remain after an accident resulting in bodily harm.

Investigators said the accused is linked to multiple fraud investigations in Peel, and police say Badshaw has been hit with additional charges related to another carjacking and a “suspicious” interaction in Toronto earlier this month.

The first incident happened on Sept. 11 when the Toronto police say a male and female suspect came to a home in the Kipling Avenue and Rathburn Road area “for a pre-arranged meeting to purchase the victim’s vehicle.”

Much like in the Mississauga theft, police say the suspects entered the vehicle “to inspect the interior and test the engine” when they started the vehicle and fled the area in the stolen ride.

On Sept. 16, police say the same pair of suspects met up with a woman at a parking lot near Dufferin Street and Yorkdale Road to purchase a vehicle. But unlike the earlier theft, police say the woman decided to scrap the deal after seeing the female suspect “acting very nervous.”

Toronto police say the 18-year-old female suspect in the Toronto incidents was arrested and charged while in Peel police custody on Monday.

Police say Badshaw has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, attempting to commit an indictable offence and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police are still asking the public to keep an eye out for the additional suspect vehicles used in the Mississauga carjacking, which appear to be a blue and a grey BMW SUV.

Police are also searching for the vehicle stolen in Toronto, described as a black 2021 BMW X6 with Ontario licence plate CPXC183.
