Protestors arrested after officer assaulted at pro-Palestine demonstration, Brampton man charged

A Brampton teen has been charged with murder in what investigators are calling the targeted killing of a 17-year-old from Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS) says officers were called to an apartment complex on 6th Avenue West in Owen Sound around 1 a.m. on July 11 for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived they discovered the deceased body of a 17-year-old male, who has now been identified by police as Robert McIntosh of Owen Sound.

McIntosh, who went by David according to an obituary, was remembered as “a loving and cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin.”

“David will be greatly missed by all of his extended family and friends,” his obituary reads.

Police believe McIntosh was targeted. Two people were arrested on July 12 and police charged Donte’a Ryan Mitchell, 25, from North York and Dustin Noonan, 34, from Owen Sound, with one count each of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.

Now police say a 17-year-old from Brampton has also been charged with one count of first-degree murder in McIntosh’s death. Police say the teen has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The accused cannot be named under a provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and police have not released any additional details about the accused.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and investigators are asking anyone who may have information on this incident to contact the Owen Sound Police Service by calling 519-376-1234.
