A proposed design for the new Victoria Park Arena will be unveiled at tonight’s Brampton Sports Hall of Fame Committee meeting.

The arena, which was built in the 1960s and gutted by a 2016 fire, has been sitting idle for several years.

Earlier this summer, Brampton city council committed to moving forward on a new facility which would incorporate as much of the historic architecture of the original as possible.

In addition, the facility will serve as a permanent home to the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame.

The proposal includes a two-storey facade that will allow for taller displays and banners, as well as dedicated storage.

The original arena had, at various times, served as home to local junior hockey and lacrosse teams.

The new site will include a fully-accessible dry floor hockey rink that will allow it to be used year round, for sports like ball hockey, indoor field hockey and box lacrosse.
