MDA says construction of its global headquarters and robotics centre in Brampton is “well underway.”

Formerly known as MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, space tech company MDA announced plans for its $100-million hub and space robotics facility in Brampton back in May, and the 200,000 square-foot campus is starting to take shape.

“This state-of-the-art facility will be home to Canadarm3 and over 700 highly-skilled employees at the forefront of the global space economy,” MDA said on social media this week.

The company is an international space mission partner, and its Brampton headquarters will feature state-of-the-art labs, manufacturing, R&D, and assembly, integration and test facilities.

MDA’s Centre of Excellence will also house a unique Space Robotics Mission Control Centre, allowing for critical on-orbit operations capabilities to commercial and government customers worldwide.

The company says the Brampton HQ will be where it develops “a full suite of innovative commercial space robotics products” for both private companies and governments, and houses its mission control centre.

MDA expects the Centre of Excellence for Space Robotics lab will be up and running by the end of the year.
