UPDATE: Shooting victim pronounced dead in hospital in Brampton

A man is dead after he was shot in Brampton Thursday evening.

Peel Police say the victim was taken to a local trauma centre after the shooting just after 7 p.m. near Vivians Crescent and Stokes Road in the Chinguacousy Road and Steeles Avenue area, where he was pronounced dead.

There is no suspect information at this time.

There is a heavy police presence and residents and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
