Brampton security guards helped save a child choking at a shopping centre restaurant.

A toddler began choking on food while eating in Moxie’s Bar and Grill at Bramalea City Centre on July 29, the shopping centre posted on their Instagram.

Security guards quickly responded to the life-threatening emergency. The food lodged deeper in the toddler’s throat and obstructed the airway. When security arrived, the toddler wasn’t breathing. The guards got consent from the child’s primary caretaker and administered back blows to the upper-back between the shoulder blades.

Luckily, the food dislodged.

“The toddler immediately began to cry and cough,”  Bramalea City Centre wrote.

A short time later, the child was then breathing normally again and had good vitals.

Paramedics arrived took the child to Brampton Civic Hospital for further assessment.

Four members of Paragon Security received a letter of commendation and a certificate of outstanding work.

“Thank you BCC Security for your quick response and diligence,” the centre wrote.
