The postponed 2020 Olympics in Tokyo will be getting underway in a month and there will be a Brampton athlete attending.

Gavin Stone, 24, will be competing in his first Olympics as a member of the men’s four rowing team. The squad qualified thanks to a second place finish at a regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, behind the team from South Africa.

Stone’s teammates are Jakub Buczek, Luke Gadsdon and Will Crothers.

Now living in BC, Stone attended Mayfield Secondary School in Brampton and Queens University.

Opening ceremonies for the games, postponed for a year because of the pandemic, are scheduled for Friday, July 23.
