Brampton residents who want to travel to St. Marys, Stratford or London will soon be able to do that via GO Train, at least on a limited basis.

Once daily service on the Kitchener Line, which services the three stations in Brampton, begins a pilot project on Oct. 18.

Currently, the line only runs to Kitchener, but a deal with CN Rail will allow Metrolinx to use their tracks.

There will be one morning train daily leaving London and one evening train heading southwest from Union Station in Toronto.

The full trip between Toronto and London will take about four hours. Fares will only be payable via GO e-tickets, not Presto.

Since this is a pilot, Metrolinx will be evaluating the project and working with rail partners to determine the future of the service.

Metrolinx officials say more detailed schedule and fare information will be available closer to launch.

Metrolinx has a dedicated page for updates on the Kitchener line.
