This winter, Brampton residents will be able to enjoy the city’s new artificial ice rinks that keep ice even in warmer temperatures.

The City purchased the rinks last year, but, due to pandemic-related restrictions, they couldn’t be used.

“They were not allowed to be used last year, because hockey was not permitted during the lockdown,” Mayor Patrick Brown said during an interview with Insauga.com Publisher Khaled Iwamura.

According to Brown, the rinks can keep ice even in temperatures as warm as nine degrees, and there have been six rinks installed across the city including Gage Park.

“I’m looking forward to driving by one of those outdoor rinks and seeing children in the neighbourhood using them—whether it’s for pleasure skating, or shinney, it’s going to be nice to see our outdoor amenities being utilized again,” Brown said.
