Brampton resident charged with impaired driving of stolen vehicle

A Brampton resident is facing charges following a recent OPP investigation.

At 7:24 a.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 28), officers responded to an impaired driving report on westbound Highway 401 near Wellington Road in London, Ontario.

It was determined that the driver was using a vehicle that had been previously stolen in Toronto.

Middlesex OPP officers located the vehicle stationary on Colonel Talbot Road and conducted a traffic stop.

“The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment where further tests from a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) were administered,” said OPP.

Police say the suspect failed to comply with a release order and was also found in possession of methamphetamine.

Taylor Gillard, a 23-year-old from Brampton, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

Gillard was held for a bail hearing.
