A Brampton resident faces charges after a disturbance in a small Ontario community on Tuesday.

Ontario Provincial Police said they were called to a home in Listowel at approximately 1:20 p.m. on June 30.

Listowel is in Perth County about 55 kilometres northwest of Kitchener.

There was an increased police presence, and the public was asked to stay clear of the area, the OPP said.

In an update, police said one person had been arrested and two charges have been laid.

A 41-year-old from Brampton was charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling house and failure to comply with an undertaking (violating release conditions while facing a pending criminal charge).

Police did not name the person charged.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
