The average price of rent for a one-bedroom unit in Brampton decreased slightly compared to November, while the average price of a two-bedroom unit increased slightly, according to the latest report from Bullpen Research and Consulting and TorontoRentals.com.

In December, the average price of a one-bedroom unit in Brampton was $1,552, a 1.77 per cent decrease month-over-month, but a 5.5 per cent increase year-over-year.

For two-bedroom units, the average price in December was $1,875, a 0.43 per cent increase month-over-month and a 3.14 per cent increase year-over-year.

Of the 35 Canadian cities listed, Brampton was the 17-most expensive city for one-bedroom rentals, and the 21-most expensive city for two-bedroom rentals.

It was also the cheapest city for one- and two-bedroom rentals in the GTA, with average prices for both sizes cheaper than nearby Mississauga, Toronto, Oakville, and Etobicoke.

Additionally, as prices return to pre-pandemic levels, increases are expected to continue into 2022.

“We expect the strong growth experienced in the second half of 2021 to continue in 2022,” Ben Myers, president of Bullpen Research and Consulting, said in a news release.
