Brampton wide receiver John Metchie had a touchdown and 76 yards on six receptions as Alabama Crimson Tide rolled over Miami Hurricanes 44-13 on the first weekend of U.S. college football.

Metchie, who is hoping to lead the Crimson Tide to a second consecutive national title, is expected to be a high draft pick in next year’s NFL draft.

Metchie’s six catches led the top-ranked Alabama offence as they cruised to an easy win over the 14th ranked Hurricanes.

Alabama has become a factory of top NFL talent. Last year, six of Metchie’s teammates were first-round picks following the four in the 2020 draft. Four of them were receivers, a position group Metchie hopes will continue to impress.

Next week, Alabama plays the Mercer Bears, a small college team that ranked squads often use early in the season to post huge offensive numbers.
