Brampton ranked luckiest lottery city in Ontario

If where you live can play a part in your fortune then Brampton residents are the luckiest lottery players in all of Ontario.

That’s according to a recent study by CanadaCasino that looked at thousands of lottery winners across Canada to determine where in the country has the highest percentage of lottery corporation wins over $10,000.

And while no Ontario municipality cracked the top 10, Brampton came in at No. 12 on the list of 20 Canadian cities and ranked as the luckiest lottery city in the province.

The report found that Brampton winners made up 5.79 per cent of all lottery corporation wins over $10,000 since 2022. Only two other Ontario cities made the list with Hamilton coming in at No. 14 with 5.37 per cent and Toronto dead last in 20th place with 4.55 per cent.

Montérégie, Que., came in at the top spot with 17.84 per cent of wins over $10,000.

The research also revealed the luckiest names across the country with David, Robert, and Dainel, Diane and Linda as ranked as the most common names for Canadian lottery winners.

The study found November is the luckiest month for lottery winners in Canada with nearly 11 per cent of wins taking place in the month, while July ranked as the most unlucky month with just 4.93 per cent of the total lottery wins over $10,000 since 2022.

CanadaCasino says the study by looked at nearly 2,500 recent winners published on the websites of Canada’s five lottery corporations since 2022 to determine which locations are the luckiest based on data from Atlantic Lottery, Loto-Québec, Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG), British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
