Brampton property taxes among highest in GTA

Brampton residents are paying the highest property taxes in Peel Region.

Based on a recent report from Zoocasa, Brampton homeowners are paying 0.96 per cent in property taxes, the most in the Region, as well as the most in the GTA west of Durham Region.

According to the findings, the average home in Brampton costs $1,072,988, meaning the average homeowner is paying $10,300 in property taxes every year.

Additionally, property taxes for a home worth $500,000 cost $4,813 per year, while taxes on a home worth $750,000 cost 7,220 per year, and taxes on a home worth $1.5 million cost $14,440 per year.

Further, Brampton residents are paying more in property taxes than residents of Mississauga, Caledon, Toronto, Halton Region, and York Region.

Typically, cities with larger populations and more expensive real estate pay lower property taxes, while cities with cheaper real estate pay higher property taxes.
