One Brampton neighbourhood reporting over a 7% COVID-19 positivity rate

One area in Brampton is currently among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of August 22 to 28.

Of the top 50 listed, one is in Brampton: Postal code L6T (area of Highway 407 and Airport Rd), which is reporting 7.02% positivity.

L6T is the area with the 44th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario.

The same data for the week indicates that out of all 34 public health units in Ontario, Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) has the third worst COVID-19 percent positivity.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of August 22 was 3.2%, up 0.3% from the previous week.

According to ICES, the overall percent positivity in Ontario has increased steadily over the past month, with five public health units having the highest positivity: Windsor-Essex County, Hamilton, Peel, York, and Niagara.
