A Brampton park is about to get an eco-restoration and the public can provide input on more changes for the green space.

Eastbourne Park, located off Torbram Road and Eastbourne Drive in Brampton, is slated for changes this fall and the public is invited to hear more at the Channel Restoration Public Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority will remove a concrete lining in the channel along Mimico Creek flowing through the Fallingdale, Earnscliffe and Eastbourne Parks. This will restore the natural creek morphology. The creek and banks will be re-naturalized.

“This project will improve the water quality, fish and wildlife habitat, stabilize the creek, mitigate local flood damage and reduce maintenance costs,” the Eastbourne Park project description reads.

Aside from the channel, work at Eastbourne also includes tree planting, a revitalized playground and seating.

Work is set to start on the project in November and continue until the summer of 2024.

The open house will include a short presentation on the proposed work for the park.

The public can have their say on the City of Brampton possible additional eco park amenities at Eastbourne. Ideas include a play node, a tiny forest and an outdoor classroom.

The project is part of the Brampton Eco Park initiative to preserve and enhance Brampton’s natural landscapes.

The open house is Oct. 26 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Earnscliffe Recreation Centre, 44 Eastbourne Dr. For more information and to register for the open house, visit the Eventbrite page.
