Brampton mother wins $300,000 playing $5 Plinko ticket

A $5 Instant Plinko ticket has turned into a $300,000 payday for a mother from Brampton.
Satyavati Somnath says she’s been playing Plinko since moving to Canada nearly 30 years ago.
Based on the popular game featured on The Price is Right, Instant Plinko combines scratch play tickets with prizes revealed in-store by an animated chip drop on the lottery terminal screen and a chance to drop a chip on a real Plinko Board at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
The 47-year-old mother lives in Brampton and says she was nervous the night before her big Plinko chip drop at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
“When I walked into the room and saw all the lights and the board, my heart was pounding,” Somnath said. “I felt like I was on top of the clouds when I was standing at the top of the board ready to drop the chip.”
Satyavati said when she dropped the chip and $300,000 was announced she thought her head was going to explode. “I’ve never seen money like this before. I feel so thankful and blessed to win this prize,” she smiled.

The winner said she was happy to celebrate the win with her family and plans to purchase a house with the winnings.

OLG is booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto, with prize winners between $1,000 and $49,999.90 encouraged to submit their claims online or mail them.
Submitting claims online is fast, secure and enables OLG to process the claim in a timely manner. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options.
Satyavati’s winning ticket was purchased at Esso on the Run on Cherrycrest Drive in Brampton.
