Winning a $100,000 prize was a family affair for a Brampton man who won big playing his family member’s birthdays and anniversaries.
Glen Corner is a retiree from Brampton who says he regularly uses significant dates like his family birthdays and anniversaries when picking his lottery numbers.
Corner says he and his wife got a shock when checking the numbers for the Jan. 18 Lotto 6/49 draw, matching the last six out of seven Encore numbers for a $100,000 payday.
“When I realized all my numbers matched, I called my wife over and told her ‘I think we won $100,000,’” Corner said while picking up his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “She was so surprised. My whole family was so excited when I called them to share the news.”
Corner said the $100,000 prize is his first big lottery win. The Corners say they plan to share the winnings with their grandchildren, take a trip to Newfoundland, and save the rest.
Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played with most lottery games for an extra $1. There is an ENCORE draw every day.
OLG supports safe play and wants to keep the fun in the game. That’s why OLG is proud to be a leader in promoting responsible gambling with our globally recognized PlaySmart program.
The winning ticket was purchased at Parks Convenience Store on McMurchy Ave. in Brampton.
