Edward Jr. Calsavara of Brampton was struck by the LIGHTNING LOTTO jackpot on July 7, 2023

A lucky Brampton man plans to put his recent lotto winnings towards some travel.

OLG announced that the Lightning Lotto jackpot struck Edward Jr. Calsavara, 73, on July 7, 2023.

According to the OLG, the top prize had grown to $195,340.50 before it was won, and since Calsavara won $2 on another Lightening Lotto selection, his total winnings came to $195,342.50.

Calsavara told OLG he enjoys playing Lightning Lotto, Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, and Proline.

“I won a second prize on Lightning Lotto back in 2022,” he said. “I became a regular Lightning Lotto player after that and was shocked when I won again!”

The retiree told OLG he purchased the ticket at a convenience store.

“Before I could turn around, the machine read ‘Big Winner.’ I double-checked my ticket as I waited for a call from OLG. A few patrons in the store patted me on the back to congratulate me.”

When Calsavara got home, he shared the news with his sister-in-law.

“I said, ‘You’d better sit down.’ When I told her about my win, she went ‘No way’ and started jumping up and down.”

Calsavara wants to use his winnings to travel to Italy and visit some relatives.

“It feels great to win. I’m on top of the world!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Kitchen Food Fair on Queen Street in Brampton.
