Brampton man killed in workplace incident near Clearview

Police are investigating after a Brampton resident died after being trapped under a dump truck.

Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are assisting with a death investigation at a worksite in Clearview Township.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 12), police say members of the Huronia West OPP responded to a report of an unresponsive male at a worksite on Highway 26 near Sideroad 12 and 13 in Clearview Township, approximately 40 kilometres west of Barrie.

Police said that a dump truck had tipped over trapping a male underneath.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene, and police have identified the victim as 28-year-old Amandeep Singh of Brampton.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) and the Federal Department of Labour were notified and are attending. The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and OPP Forensic Identification Unit (FIS) are assisting with the investigation.
