A Brampton resident is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win.
Senthil Cellaiyan of Brampton took the $50,000 top prize with Instant Super Strike game, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said on Wednesday.
Cellaiyan, a mechanic, has been playing the lottery with OLG a few times a week for about three years, OLG said.
The married father of two children plays a variety of jackpot and instant games. A couple months ago, Cellaiyan decided to give Super Strike a try.
“After purchasing my ticket, I played it right away and realized it was a winner,” Cellaiyan told OLG. “I scanned it on the store’s ticket checker and was shocked when I saw the prize amount.”
Cellaiyan went straight back to his car to drink some water and take a few minutes to let everything sink in.
“Once I collected my thoughts, I went back into the store, told the clerk the good news, and had my ticket validated,” he said. “Since then, I haven’t told anyone about my win.”
He didn’t even tell his wife.
“I look forward to surprising my wife today, once I receive my cheque,” Cellaiyan said.
With the winnings, he plans to travel back home with his family and invest in his children’s education.
Instant Super Strike is $50 a play and the top prize is $50,000. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.29.
The winning ticket was purchased at City Convenience on Queen Street East in Brampton.
