Brampton man facing cocaine, fentanyl charges in Belleville

Project Renewal officers have laid charges against seven people, including a 23 year-old Brampton man, after police seized $30,000 worth of drugs from two locations in the city.

Members of Project Renewal with the assistance of Belleville Police Emergency Response Team and K-9 Unit executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants on a Dundas Street East location and Church Street location on Tuesday.

Police said more than 230 grams of cocaine, 23 grams of fentanyl, 19.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 30.8 grams of an unknown powder substance were seized, along with $7,540 in cash, digital scales and a prohibited device (Taser).

Brampton’s Nana Oduro, 20 year-old Faizan Shahid of Pickering, and Szlvia Balogh, 21, of Toronto; along with Belleville residents John Collingridge, 64, Michelle Mitchell, 41, and Taylor Whiting, 20, are each charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possession of a prohibited device.

Aaron Stewart, 22, of Pickering is also charged with the same cocaine, methamphetamine, and proceeds offences plus possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

Whiting was held for a bail hearing on May 19 on outstanding warrants from Quinte West OPP.

All other parties were released on an undertaking with a court date of June 21 in Belleville Provincial Court.
