Brampton man faces charges after Oakville home broken into and vehicle stolen

A 22-year-old Brampton man has been charged for breaking into an Oakville residence overnight and stealing a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Halton Regional Police say, on Aug. 10, a man broke into a local residence overnight while the homeowners were sleeping and stole the keys to the vehicle and drove away.

He would end up finding credit cards in the stolen vehicle and frequently used them, allowing investigators to be able to identify and located him.

Ranjodh Kingra, 22, of Brampton, is charged with: 

  • Break, Enter and Commit
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fraudulent Use of Credit Card

Kingra was released on an Undertaking.

Halton Police want to remind residents of the following tips to help protect themselves from these types of incidents:

  • Lock the door from the garage into home
  • Lock your vehicles
  • Remove garage door opener from vehicle if possible
  • Illuminate your exterior and driveway at night
