A 28-year-old Brampton man has died following a water incident at a popular Gravenhurst waterfront area over the weekend.
Ontario Provincial Police say emergency crews were called to the Gravenhurst Wharf on Steamship Bay Road at about 5:50 p.m. on June 21 after reports of a possible drowning near the Ungerman Park cliffs.
Investigators say a group of people had been at the cliff area when the man entered the water and failed to resurface.
He was pulled from the water by nearby boaters who brought him to the Muskoka Wharf. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, he was pronounced dead.
The Bracebridge detachment of the OPP is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are reminding the public to use caution around open water and to wear life jackets when engaging in water activities.
No further details have been released.
