Because they only patrol 56 kilometres of roadway through the Niagara Parks’ 3,274 acres of parkland, the Niagara Parks Police don’t encounter many traffic violations.

At the beginning of November, they came upon an impaired woman who had smashed her car into a tree and was oddly, trying her best to call 911.

But it does happen on occasion. On November 26 in the late evening, a northbound driver cross the median on the Niagara River Parkway at Murray Street and ran into a lamp post. He then collided with a southbound car on the road.

There were no injuries but a Brampton man, 34, has been charged with drunk driving.
