Brampton men charged with murder in shooting death on Manitoulin Island

Five people including two men from Brampton have been charged with first degree murder after a shooting death on Manitoulin Island earlier this month.

Around 1:30 a.m. on April 5, police say members of the Manitoulin OPP and Sudbury-Manitoulin Paramedic Services were called to a residence on Pine Street in the M’Chigeeng First Nation, about 150 kilometres south of Sudbury.

Police said a 30-year-old from Toronto was found shot and later died of his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Brandan Brooks from Toronto.

On Wednesday, police announced they had laid first degree murder and dozens of combined charges against five people in relation to the shooting.

Warren Mills, 21, from Brampton has been charged with:

Jeromie Simon, 20, from Brampton has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Firearm
  • Public Mischief
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance For The Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

Jerome Fuller, 20, from Newmarket has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Public Mischief
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other Than to Attend Court
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance For The Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

Sajieth Kamaraj, 26, from Markham has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance For The Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

Umainesan Manuel, 30, from Scarborough has been charged with:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance For The Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

The accused were all held in police in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 19 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay.
