Brampton man caught with $40,000 worth of stolen tires: police

A Brampton man is facing charges and a second suspect is on the run after police seized a cargo truck full of stolen tires worth thousands of dollars.

Around 11:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, the OPP say officers from the Caledon division were called about a stolen vehicle in the area of Polenta Cres.

When officers arrived, one suspect was taken into custody for being in possession of property while another suspect fled the scene in a black BMW SUV.

Police say they recovered a transport truck which was reported stolen from the Scarborough area which was loaded with stolen tires with an approximate value of $40,000.

Investigators say the cargo was linked to a break and enter that occurred that same morning in the Cambridge area.

As a result of the arrest, Pushpinder Dhillon, 30, of Brampton has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Resist peace officer

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 28 to answer to the charges.

Police are still searching for the second suspect who fled the scene and have released a photo of the individual.
