A 19-year-old Brampton man has been charged in the stabbing of another man on Sunday night near the City Centre in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police say the victim, whose age hasn’t been released, was in the area of Burnhamthorpe Rd. and Robert Speck Pkwy. just before 6:30 p.m. when there was an altercation between two groups.

During the confrontation, one man pulled out a small knife and stabbed the victim in the back, police say.

Shortly after, the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but not considered life-threatening.

Officers from Mississauga’s 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested the suspect last night.

Thomas Penasse-Stanley, 19, of Brampton, is charged with assault with a weapon.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on April 8.
