A Brampton man has been charged in connection with a Mississauga carjacking in which a ride-share vehicle was stolen from its owner.

Peel Regional Police say the victim reported that he was threatened by a male passenger with a weapon and forced to give up his car at about 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the area of Bloor St. and Fieldgate Dr. in east Mississauga.

“The victim, a ride-share driver, reported that a male customer had allegedly threatened bodily harm with a weapon, resulting in their vehicle being stolen along with the property contained inside,” police said in a news release.

Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau recovered the victim’s vehicle and property about 15 kilometres from where they had been stolen.

The victim sustained no physical injuries.

On Monday (Jan. 23), a man turned himself in to police in connection with the incident.

Sean Kang, 27, of Brampton, is charged with one count of robbery.
