Brampton man charged in connection to fatal bar fight that occurred in Toronto

A Brampton man has been arrested in connection to a murder that occurred in Toronto.

On July 5, 2021, Toronto Police was called to a bar in the area of Keele and Finch in relation to a shooting that resulted in the death of 47-year-old Jason Cockburn.

According to police, Cockburn got into an argument shortly before leaving the bar. After he left, a man followed him outside and shot him, then ran away.

Cockburn was taken to a nearby hospital and put on life support, on which he remained until he succumbed to his injuries on July 18.

On Wednesday (October 6), police arrested two suspects, 22-year-old Angel Ramirez Casanova, of Woodbridge, and 34-year-old Yanique Ellison, of Brampton.

Both have been charged with first-degree murder.
