Five co-workers from Brampton have become firm believers in the power of the fortune cookie.

That’s because they are all now millionaires thanks to the lucky number they found in the tasty little treat.

The team had the winning ticket in the October 24 draw of Lotto 6/49 and will be sharing the prize of $14,250,915.60.

That amounts to $2,850,163.16 each.

The winners, all Brampton residents, are Gregorio Ballesteros, Ariel Serame, Eric Escolano, Henry Gyamfi and Rey Pantilano Pilla and they have been playing the lottery together for eight years.

“The numbers for this ticket were actually chosen from a fortune cookie!” shared Ballesteros adding that he had to call his buddies to give them the news. “No one believed me at first.”

He said the five have different plans for the cash but have mentioned buying some property, paying off bills and investing the winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Rabba Fine Foods on Peel Centre Dr. in Brampton.
