Two Brampton lottery winners say their winnings are coming at the right time of the year.

Malcolm Theroulde, 65, hit the jackpot in the December 5 draw of Lottario and has collected $720,497.70

A regular Lottario player, Theroulde said he plans to use his winnings to help his family and enjoy a more comfortable retirement.

He said he couldn’t believe it when his numbers were drawn.

“I always choose Quick Picks and add Encore,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I had to scan my ticket twice before I believed what I was seeing! Then I put my ticket in my pocket and said I’ll see you tomorrow morning OLG.”

The winning ticket was purchased at North Park Variety on Torbram Rd. in Brampton.

Meanwhile, Elred Hopkin is celebrating after winning the second price of $50,000 in the November 11 draw of Ontario 49.

Hopkin, a 74-year-old retiree and part-time school bus driver, said he is a regular lottery player. “I won $5,000 on LOTTO 6/49 about four years ago,” he said.

He was comparing his numbers to the winning numbers online when he realized he may have a winner. “I scanned my ticket using the OLG Lottery App to be sure, and ‘Big Winner’ popped up and I froze! I collected myself and went to show my wife – I think she was more excited than I was!”

The grandfather said this win comes at the perfect time. “This win gives me the freedom to tie up some loose ends and approach Christmas with a free mind,” he said.

“I’ll share some with each of my kids and my wife will figure out what to do with the rest. My plans wouldn’t align with hers,” he laughed.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mom’s Convenience on Avondale Blvd. in Brampton.
