A Brampton driver has been charged after an alleged drunken drive through a farmer’s field in Caledon on the weekend.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday (May 1), the OPP say an officer from the Caledon detachment was on a nightly patrol in the area of Old School Rd. and Highway 10 in Caledon.

Police say the officer spotted a vehicle in a farmer’s field and while interacting with the driver the officer suspected that their abilities were impaired.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the Caledon OPP detachment where further breath tests were conducted.

Syed Rizvi, 20, of Brampton has been changed with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The vehicle was also impounded for seven days and the driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 14.

The Caledon OPP are reminding drivers to make safe arrangements when planning to consume alcohol or drugs.

If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, police say to call 911 and report it.
