Sports fans in Brampton can catch some live lacrosse action this weekend at the Minto Cup finals.

Four teams from across Canada squared off in Brampton this week for the 2022 Junior ‘A’ Lacrosse Minto Cup Championship.

The Whitby Warriors have secured their spot in the finals with a 9-5 win over the Toronto Beaches on Wednesday, and will take on the Edmonton Miners in the finals.

Brock Haley scored three times Wednesday for the Warriors – including the only two goals in the third to put the game away, and a final snipe scored while airborne. Parker Pipher, Lucas Littlejohn and Adam Poitras added a pair of goals each, and Kaleb Martin made 45 saves to help secure the win.

Edmonton’s birth in the finals marks the first time a team from Alberta has made it into the Minto Cup championship round.

The Minto Cup final is a best-of-three series, kicking off on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday and a third game, if necessary, will take place on Monday night.

General admission tickets for the final games are $24.00 and are available online at www.ticketmaster.ca.

The CAA Centre is located at 7575 Kennedy Rd. South in Brampton.
