Brampton will host a town hall on COVID-19 health and safety.

The Tele Town Hall, on the ongoing health and safety measures during the pandemic, is scheduled for 6 p.m. today (Aug. 2).

Brampton was a hot spot for COVID-19 cases early on in the pandemic. Recent data indicates the city has highest percentage of cases in Peel Region, 53.2 per cent of the cases in Peel from January to July 28 of this year, according to the Region of Peel.  There were 101,630 confirmed cases in Brampton during that time period.

Across Peel, cases spiked in July but seem to be decreasing in wastewater tests.

The town hall includes Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, representatives from Peel Public Health, William Osler Health System, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Peel Regional Police, and Peel Regional Paramedics.
