Sheridan College and The City of Brampton are teaming up to help international students find housing, work experience and conect with their community.

On July 25 and July 26, Sheridan College Davis Campus will host the Summit on Improving the International Student Experience.

Featuring wokshops and keynote speakers, the summit brings together international students who are at multiple stages of their postsecondary journey to explore the impacts and gaps in immigration policy, barriers to safe and affordable housing, gaps in supports and services to ensure academic success and much more.

The Summit is six months in the making and was organized by the International Student Experience Roundtable in efforts to make Brampton a leader in supporting international students to thrive.

Other topics addressed at the summit will include the need for gender and culturally-sensitive supports, opportunities for meaningful work experience, and how to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion for international students.

“These are issues that no single association or organization can tackle alone,” said Jaspreet Singh, founder of the International Students’ Association. “The summit allows everyone to get on the same page and have positive dialogue and take united action on key priorities.”

The Improving the International Student Experience summit runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on July 25-26 at Sheridan College. For more information or to register visit www.sheridancollege.ca/summit.
