Brampton grandmother celebrating big lotto win

Joan Koomar of Brampton has just won $100,000 after matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the September 26, 2020, Ontario 49 draw. 

Joan Koomar of Brampton has just won $100,000 after matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the September 26, 2020, Ontario 49 draw. 

Koomar, a 72-year-old grandmother, is a regular lottery player, according to OLG.

“I play twice a week,” she told OLG.

According to OLG, the retiree was at the variety store she normally visits to check her tickets when she got a big surprise. “I saw all the zeros and asked, ‘is this true?’ I was very overwhelmed and so was my husband!”

Koomar plans to help her family and put the rest of her winnings into savings.

“My kids are excited for Christmas this year,” she told OLG. 

 

The winning ticket was purchased at Brampton Civic Variety on Bovaird Drive in Brampton.
