Fire crews battled a “significant” house fire in Brampton this afternoon (June 28).

Just after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services said firefighters were working on knocking down a house fire in the area of Sandalwood Pkwy. and Mississauga Rd.

Pictures from the scene show smoke billowing out from the front and rear of a home on Ivor Cres. Parts of a charred fence and burning debris between two homes can be seen in the photos.

Brampton Fire say residents in the area can expect heavy traffic and road closures in the area. Drivers should avoid the area if possible and find alternate routes.

A spokesperson with Peel Paramedics said no injuries were reported and no patients transported from the scene.

The fire department has not said how many homes have been damaged in the blaze.

Around 2:00 p.m., Brampton Fire Chief Bill Boyes said the fire was under control with no injuries to residents or firefighters.

Firefighters will remain to extinguish hot spots and work on overhaul operations, and roads in the immediate area will remain closed while crews are on scene.
