The gift of a lottery ticket has paid off for a Brampton family that is now $1 million-dollars richer.

Conrad Bess is a father of three from Brampton who’s been playing the lottery since he was 18-years-old.

When Bess checked a ticket bought as a gift from his wife, he said he was in disbelief.

“I had to scan it multiple times – then I called my wife,” Bess said of realising he had won $1 million. “She was in tears when I told her.”

The 44-year-old father said he plans to use the winnings to pay off his mortgage, complete some renovations, travel and save some money for his kids.

“There’s been sleepless nights, excitement, and confusion,” Bess said. “It still hasn’t sunk in yet.”
