Brampton is gearing up to celebrate Eid ul Fitr and is inviting the entire city to a fun-filled day of food trucks, live shows and charity.

As Brampton’s Muslim community observes the holy month of Ramadan, the City is busy preparing for its annual Eid ul Fitr celebrations.

Residents are invited to Gage Park on April 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a day of live entertainment, family-friendly activities for kids of all ages, free giveaways and much more.

Henna tattoo artists will be on-site for those looking for some body art, Halal food trucks to keep hungry guests happy, and market vendors with goods for sale.

In the spirit of giving back to the community, attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or a new unwrapped toy in support of the local food bank and women’s shelter.

Eid is a time to gather and celebrate with family, friends, and the community, and Mayor Patrick Brown wished Brampton’s Muslim community “a spiritual and rewarding month of fasting, abstinence, worship and prayer.”

“The Muslim community is especially charitable during this month and so we celebrate the prosperity and strength of our community and City because of the contributions of the Muslim community,” Brown said in a statement. “Brampton is such a rich mosaic of a City and I look forward to gathering with all after Ramadan to celebrate Eid ul Fitr at Gage Park.”

The City’s Eid ul Fitr celebrations run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gage Park on April 23. For more information visit www.Brampton.ca.
