Police have taken an alleged impaired driver from Brampton off the road after a crash in Caledon earlier this month.

Just before 2:00 a.m. on April 8, the OPP says an officer from the Caledon detachment was on patrol on Mayfield Rd. near The Gore Rd. in Caledon when they witnessed a crash.

Police say a driver from Brampton crashed with another vehicle. No injuries were reported, but police say that the officer suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol.

A 36-year-old driver from Brampton was arrested and charged by the OPP with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

Police said the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for two weeks.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 27. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
